Are You A Candidate?

If you are experiencing pain or limited mobility in your wrist or forearm, a simple test may help determine if you are a candidate for the Distal Radial-Ulnar Joint (DRUJ) Prosthesis.

To perform the test, follow these simple step-by-step instructions:

DRUJ Self Exam

1. Begin with the arm that is experiencing pain relaxed at your side.
2. Bend the elbow of the pained arm 90 degrees as if you are about to shake someone’s hand.
3. While your arm is still bent, place your opposite hand on the middle of your forearm and press down.
4. Resist the pressure and note if you experience pain and to what degree.
5. While continuing to resist the pressure, rotate the forearm both palm up and palm down noting whether you experience pain and to what degree.

Any pain at the end of the forearm in the area of the wrist indicates possible DRUJ involvement, so be sure to contact a physician in your area to confirm the diagnosis.
